Ode to Pink

Ode to Pink–what a fun post to create, I must say! I am one of those people who is passionate about pink, so much so, that when I was in kindergarten, my favorite outfit consisted of, and was a special compilation of: pink rain boots, pink tights, pink dress, pink raincoat, and to top it off, a pink headband. (As in, full on bright magenta) I, personally, do not recall this giant fashion faux pas, but I believe it...and there is one hilarious photo of me to prove it, arms folded, beside a cow. That's right, a cow. I'm so happy that my taste in fashion has become more fine tuned, but my love of pink has never died.

And so, onto the post, with Paula Grace!

My friend, Sarah Klassen, and I are switching places today. I am on her blog; Sarah is on mine (Paula Grace Designs) . We’re mixing it up just for fun! Above is the lovely Sarah with a pretty pink wallet. Hmmm??!! Where did she get such a fabulous Coach wallet?! She won it! Sarah played my match the wallcovering to the celebrity giveaway and WON! The prize was a Coach wallet in the color of your choice. Sarah chose pink!

Sarah and I decided to do an ode to pink in honor of her wallet. I am covering pink in regards to interior design; Sarah on fashion. I love wearing pink. I always feel so pretty in it.

Pink is not just for little girl rooms any more. A simple Google search will show you that! Fabric companies are creating pink variations by the hundreds. Robert Allen alone has so many tints and shades of solid pink (not to mentions patterns), I can only show you a smattering. They range from white with a drop of red to fuchsia…

Wallcoverings too! They won’t be left out in the dust. Here are some York examples…

Rugs want to stay in the game. Surya among others will see to that…

Ok, ok… we get it. Pink is in… but how is it being interpreted in room designs? I think we should take a look at the masters of color design– Jamie Drake and Larry Laslo.

First Jamie Drake pictured here with Laura Kirar and Margaret Russell (in a pink blazer no less)…

Wow!

Now Larry Laslo

Yes, he’s in a pink room!

Are you celebrating pink now?? Great for those that are. Is a hint of pink enough for you? No worries, I have you covered…

Even the color generous Jamie Drake knows when a little will go a long way…

Moral of the story–if you love pink, I mean LOVE IT, use it generously. There enough products and furnishings out there to complete a room ceiling to floor. If you are having an affair with it, use it judiciously such that it is easy to change out. That is true for any color really. What do you think? Pink–generously or judiciously? We’d love to know.

Thank you, Paula Grace, for such a stylish and inspirational post. These interiors and ideas are just beautiful! A few of my favorite features are the guilded, gold mirror with all the luxe pink, as well as that incredible closet. Lovely!
