Some styles are meant to be timeless. My hair stylist is always chopping up my hair in funky, new cuts straight from Italy, New York, or the like, but he still manages to leave me with the ability to pull of something a little more classic at times...which brings me to a true classic: the chignon. The word chignon, which is pronounced: shee-nyawn, originally comes from the French phrase “chignon du cou,” which means nape of the neck and refers to a large, smooth twist, roll, or knot of hair, worn by women at the nape of the neck or the back of the head.
I have come across some that are neatly pulled together, messy, styled centrally, and others that are off to one side and often accompanied by a flower, jewelry, etc. Quite romantic...I think my favorite is a loose chignon. {This is Glamorous} also has a beautiful post on chignons as well --- be sure to check out additional styles there. Reminds me of Grace Kelly, polished, Parisian ladies and pretty ballerinas! Have you worn this style? Any tips on how to pull it off?
