At first when I saw this driveway portico, I thought,
Wow, so lush, so elegant, so Queensland!

The agent used the words "tropical rural" property, is that possible???

And what would your friends say if this greeted them when they visited!
I actually liked it because it was so, um, well, impressive!

Except for some of the tired decor in the rooms (like below), I generally found myself wanting to live in this home, although with a bit less timber...

Considering this house is currently on the market for around $2.5 Million Big Ones, you'd think they'd showcase one of the nicer bedrooms instead of these little pokey ones - although they're not too shabby!

I really loved the feel of the outdoor rooms in this home, very relaxing...
and to be honest, I'm not a big fan of Asian influenced decorating, but I thought this home owner had decorated quite tastefully, yet still maintaining an Asian feel to it.

These are amazing outdoor rooms...

AND What did the Agent say about it?

SHANGRI-LA

6 bedroom house for sale in brookfield

If you are looking for a sprawling family home set in a tropical oasis with rural views just 30 minutes from the city, you've found it!

East meets West in this architectural masterpiece combining exceptional style, grand spaces and fabulous options for entertaining atop three fully-usable acres. If you love to entertain, you've found an entertainer's paradise!

The award-winning home is impressive from the first glimpse, with electric gates opening to reveal a sweeping entranceway flanked by tropical landscaped gardens which lead to the imposing porte cochere. From here you will be drawn through impressive timber doors and into the formal entry to be met by a striking water feature, a soaring vaulted ceiling illuminated by hundreds of twinkling fibre-optic lights and the huge alfresco dining area beyond. Chinese cultural influences add a calming atmosphere, with an emphasis on cascading water and clever integration of the five natural elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

All this combines to make a breathtaking first impression and the east and west wings fan out from this focus area to create the tone for the rest of the property. Despite its imposing looks, this home was built to embrace family, friends and the joy of entertainment. It has six bedrooms and four bathrooms, a dedicated guest wing with separate kitchen, a bar, media room and massive outdoor areas which can be easily divided into individual zones when there are just a few guests for moments of solitude and intimacy, or combined together when entertaining on a large scale.

All the living spaces combine effortlessly and radiate out from the gourmet kitchen with its dark granite benches and warm timber cabinets. As the current owners are restaurateurs, these well designed features have been integrated with hard working commercial-quality appliances and not one, but two gas cook tops - a 'wanna be' chef's dream kitchen from the oven to the walk-in pantry.

Most living is shared between the family room and the adjoining alfresco dining area. Connected through sliding glass doors, this interactive space brings the outdoors in and is set against a backdrop of tropical palms and a gently flowing watercourse that surrounds almost the entire home providing a reflective, calming feel.

A timber walkway leads over the water and through the tropical gardens to a second entertainment area; an elevated gazebo which looks out over the surrounding countryside. With power, water and plenty of space, it is ideal for your outdoor BBQs on summer evenings.

Back inside, the house offers a practical separation of living with the bedrooms divided into two independent wings. The west wing is primarily designed for guests or older children, with an entirely self-contained suite that offers private access, an ensuite, lounge and kitchen. There are a further two bedrooms in this zone, as well as a family bathroom and private terrace. This whole area can be closed off from the rest of the home, making it the perfect retreat for teenage children, grand parents or guests.

Following a similar design approach, the east wing is ideal for family with a study and two children's rooms sharing a bathroom and terrace. The master suite is located nearby and is truly impressive with a sprawling spa ensuite opening out to the bedroom, spacious dual walk-in wardrobes and an alfresco lounge area with data cabling for entertainment.

To add to all this, the home lists a three-car garage, ducted air-conditioning, combustion fireplace and security with electric gates. The rest of the three acres are occupied with lush gardens, a dam, bore, two 27,000lt tanks and a shed with dual car bays, workshop and power.

With its resort-style looks, outstanding liveability and seamless integration between indoors and out, this home is difficult to overlook. Make it your Shangri-La - paradise on earth.
